Google may be the king of search engines in U.S. at the moment, but how long will that last? Over the past six months, searches powered by Microsoft Bing are quickly increasing. The searches are increasing at such a fast rate that by next year Bing may topple Google as the search giant.
According to comScore, Google was responsible for 65% of U.S. searches in March 2011. Bing accounted for about 14% of U.S. searches. Both search engines gained an equal 0.3 percent of the search market in March.
Bing may be a serious contender for Google, but only time will tell who dominates the searches. Check back with us next year to see who survives.
What do you think of Bing’s growth in the last sixth months? What search engine do you use?

Bing is irrelevant in the long term to either offset Google or make an lasting impact on search in general…Google is the verb for search and you can never underestimate the power of the masses to go with the norm or the brand. The only true competitors on the horizon for search are Facebook and Twitter – as people learn to use their friends’ recommendations more to find the information they require and the social services learn to leverage their information more; and better.
