Happy planning season everyone! Are you one of the late adopters and starting up social media for your company? Maybe you’re present on social media but not 100 percent sure you invested in the right channels? To help you decide what channels are right for you and your brand, I’ve outlined a few tips below for a successful social media experience. The number one piece of advice I can give is this: do your due diligence to get the most out of your investment.
Tip #1 – Research
Find out what channels your target market uses. Make a list of the channels and include a column for competitors, targets and potential customers. Analyze the list. You don’t need to participate in ALL these channels, as there may be quite a few. Most don’t have resources to accommodate this.
Tip #2 – Discover content sources
Talk to your colleagues. Know what resources are available to you. If you’re not going to have permission or access to a library of imagery and video, Instagram probably isn’t the right place for you. However, you could get away with a Twitter account.
Tip #3 – Create a plan
Each channel needs to work with the others to cohesively tell your brand’s story. Develop a plan so you can consistently post in each selected channel. The worst thing you can do on social media is have an empty channel with inconsistent posting.
